Why this matters

Captured Lives™ updates are how you show your work in real time, and they often feature real people: beneficiaries, community members, families, children, and sometimes vulnerable adults.

Showing that work builds trust with Supporters. But the people in your updates have rights, and protecting them is a condition of being on Rayz.

This policy explains, in plain terms, what you must do before you record and publish anyone. It applies to every image, audio clip, and video you share through Captured Lives™ - and equally to your profile and one-minute intro video, and to any group footage where other people appear in the background.

1. The core rule

Before you record or publish any identifiable person, you must have their informed consent.

"Informed consent" means the person understands and agrees to:

being filmed or photographed;
their image, voice, or story being shared publicly on Rayz;
the fact that Supporters - and, where you share a public link, others - may see it;
the fact that the content may stay visible over time.

Consent must be freely given (no pressure), specific (for this use), and informed (they understand what they're agreeing to). If someone says no, you must not film or publish them.

2. Children and vulnerable adults

Extra care is required here, and these rules are not optional.

For any child (under 18) or vulnerable adult, you must get consent from a parent, legal guardian, or appropriate responsible adult - not only from the person themselves.
You must complete any safeguarding approval Rayz requires before publishing.
Never publish anything that could identify, locate, or put a child or vulnerable person at risk - for example, full names alongside a location, a school or shelter name, or details that could expose someone in a sensitive situation.
Where you can tell the story without identifying the person, do so. Minimise identifying details, and consider showing work, hands, or wide shots rather than faces where identification isn't necessary.

3. What good consent looks like

Explain who Rayz is and that the content will be seen by Supporters online.
Ask before you record, not after.
Record consent in a way you can evidence later (for example, a signed form, a recorded verbal agreement, or a written message). Rayz may ask you to show that consent was given.
For children and vulnerable people, keep a record of who gave consent on their behalf and their relationship to the person.

4. What you must not film or publish

Anyone who has refused, or who has withdrawn, consent.
Anyone in a way that exposes them to risk (legal, physical, or reputational).
Private, medical, or sensitive moments without specific, separate consent.
Content that is misleading about what is happening or how funds are used.
Anything unlawful, or that breaches the Rayz Terms and Conditions.

5. Withdrawing consent and removing content

Anyone featured in a Captured Lives™ update - or their parent, guardian, or responsible adult - can ask for that content to be removed at any time.

They can ask you directly, or contact Rayz at contact@rayz.space.
If consent is withdrawn, you must stop using that content and remove it.
Rayz can also remove or restrict content where consent cannot be evidenced or where there is a safeguarding concern.

6. Rayz's role

Rayz provides the tools, sets these requirements, and acts on removal requests and safeguarding concerns. But we are not there when you record. Obtaining valid consent before you publish is your responsibility. Failing to do so is a breach of the Rayz Terms and Conditions and may lead to content removal, suspension, or removal from the Platform.
